미얀마여, 미얀마 국민들이여!

자유가 무엇인가?

평화가 무엇인가?

정의와 진리는 무엇인가?

민주주의는 어디 있는가?

 

예로부터 자유는 팔다리가 부러져야

얻을 수 있었고

평화는 목숨과 바꿔야 왔다

정의?

진리?

피와 고통과 죽음의 뜨거움이 없으면 없었다

민주주의는 백성의 피로 얻는 잠시의 축복이다

 

백성은 아무 죄도 없다

나라의 국민이라는 죄밖에 없다

 

그래도 나라는 민주주의여야 하고

국민은 민주주의를 누리며 살아야 한다

미얀마여, 미얀마 국민들이여

자유의 맛을 보며 살아야 한다

병든 권력은 자유를 배반한 기름이어서

한번 불이 붙으면 꺼질 줄 모르나

 

그 불길을 끌 수 있는 것은

가장 미약한 백성의 힘뿐이니

백성의 울부짖음을 이겨낼 총칼은 없다

 

피는 아프지만

그 열매는 더할 수 없이 다디단 것임을

인류는 알고 있나니

 

권력이여, 인류의 영원한 폭력이여

무식한 인간들의 허망함이여

저주 받으라

지옥의 불 속으로 떨어져 영원히 타버려라

그 재가 미친 권력으로 저버린 생명들의

재생의 새싹이 되어라

 

생명은 영원하고

자유와 평화는 인간의 소망이니

그 누가 억압하고 빼앗을 수 있으랴

축복 있으라

아름다운 나라 미얀마여

내일은 더욱 아름답고 살맛나는 나라이려니

만세 만세 미얀마 만세!

미얀마 국민 만세!

What is Freedom?

What is Peace?

What is Justice and Truth?

Where is Democracy?

 

Freedom can be obtained from

The losing of people’s limbs

Peace was the price of people’s life from the past

Justice?

Truth?

Never without the passion of blood, agony and death

Democracy is a transient bliss obtaining from the blood of people

 

The Peoples are innocent

Never guilty except they are a member of nation

 

Nevertheless, a nation is democratic

People ought to enjoy breathing in democracy

Oh, Myanmar, Myanmar People,

You ought to enjoy tasting freedom

As a corrupt power is an oil of treachery

Once it ignites, it never goes out,

 

The only extinguisher of the fire

Is the power of people, however it may weak

Guns and blades can never defeat the cry of people

 

Human beings know

Though blood is bitter

The fruit of it is unspeakably sweet

 

Power, the everlasting violence of humankind,

Vanity of the ignorant human beings

Be cursed!

Fall into the fire of the hell, being burned away forever,

The ash of which be the reviving buds of the life

Killed and vanished by the insane power

 

Life is everlasting

Freedom and Peace are the hope of humanity

Which no one can oppress and usurp

God bless

Myanmar, the beautiful country!

Tomorrow, you will be the more beautiful and happier country

Hurray for Myanmar forever!

Hurray for the people of Myanmar!

“미얀마 민주화 기원” 오체투지 12일 서울 용산구 주한 미얀마대사관 앞에서 재한 미얀마 청년들과 대한불교조계종 사회노동위원회 소속 스님들이 미얀마 민주화를 기원하는 오체투지를 하고 있다. 미얀마에선 지난달 1일 군부 쿠데타 발발 후 군경의 발포 및 폭력으로 최소 70명이 숨졌다. 뉴스1(동아일보 2021.03.13.)
